CENTURIES OF CELEBRATIONS AT TRYON PALACE BEGIN THANKSGIVING WEEKEND! FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28 - SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30   9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Friday - Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.   We’re kicking off the holiday season on Thanksgiving weekend with some wonderful holiday tours of the festooned gardens and bedecked halls, and special performances all weekend long! The 2008 Christmas celebrations at Tryon Palace Historic Sites & Gardens will feature traditional holiday pastimes and a celebration of the natural beauty of eastern North Carolina. Very special holiday tours of the Palace, Kitchen Office and three other historic homes begin on November 28 and run through December 31. A Gardener’s Delight Speakers: Dick and Judith Tyler of Pine Knott Farms.   Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. Visitor Ctr. Auditorium. Free “The Winter Garden” Reception follows lecture.   Saturday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. Visitor Ctr. Auditorium. Free “Helleborus Species for American Gardens” Book signing follows lecture. Parlor Talk “You Are What You Eat (with)” Speaker: Rebecca Reimer, Tryon Palace Curator of Education.   Thursday, Nov. 13 at 12 noon. Commission House Parlor. Free Rebecca will examine the place of ceramics in society, concentrating on the changes in production and aesthetics throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Bring your lunch and we’ll provide the beverage. The Jonkonnu Parade “An Articulation of Escape and Renewal in North Carolina” Speaker: Dr. Jermaine Archer.   Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. Visitor Ctr. Auditorium.
